Innovation and Technology Department
County of San Bernardino
The project involves a significant renovation of an existing three-story concrete tilt-up building, spanning approximately 75,000 SF, to transform it into the new headquarters for the county's I.T. Department. The redesign aims to create a modern, flexible office environment tailored to the needs of I.T. professionals. Key features include state-of-the-art training rooms, a staff café to encourage social interaction, a situation room for critical operations, private offices for focused work, and expansive open office areas. Additionally, the layout incorporates focus rooms and wellness spaces to support a holistic approach to workplace design.
Although the core circulation elements of the building will remain intact, the renovation scope extends to comprehensive upgrades. This includes the complete overhaul of restrooms, the replacement of all ductwork and lighting systems to enhance energy efficiency and comfort, and the installation of a new emergency generator to ensure operational continuity. The exterior of the building will see the addition of photovoltaic carports, which not only provide shade but also generate renewable energy. Surrounding site improvements will further integrate the building into its environment, revitalizing the space to serve as a dynamic, sustainable, and technologically advanced home for the I.T. Department.
